Regulatory Transposable Elements in ENCODE
Transposable elements are the unwanted pests in our genome that keep producing more of themselves over evolutionary history. While we may not always appreciate their presence, it turns out that parts of the regulatory genome come from the transposable elements that we have picked up along the way.
