About Daniel Martins
I am a physician scientist with a particular interest in Psychiatry and Mental Health. I am currently a Senior Research Fellow/Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London and NIHR Maudsley BRC, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. My current research interests lie on the application of multimodal neuroimaging techniques to decipher genes, molecules and circuits governing interactions between the brain and body. We do so by integrating insights from a variety of disciplines including genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, molecular and MRI imaging, peripheral physiological signals, cognitive testing, computational modelling, in both observational and experimental medicine studies in human subjects. Presently, we have a keen interest in chronic fatigue and neurocognitive dysfunction in the context of post-acute (post-acute infectious syndromes) and chronic illness (immune-mediated inflammatory conditions, cancer and post-chemotherapy brain dysfunction).
