About Rosanna C Barnard
I trained as a mathematician, starting with a 4-year integrated masters degree in mathematics from the University of Sussex. Following this, I completed a PhD in mathematics, where I used network-based models to explore biological processes such as the growth and development of the brain and the spread of disease across social networks.
Since completing my doctorate, I moved into the more applied side of mathematics, with my research focussing on the spread of infectious diseases and becoming more hands on with epidemiological data. My first post-doctoral research position explored the spatiotemporal dynamics of the Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa in 2013-2016. Following this, I joined the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in 2020, where I have been working full-time on the UK's COVID-19 response.
