Surface science and technology is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive discipline that focuses on the study of various phenomena and processes that occur on surfaces and interfaces at atomic or molecular level, in relation to physics, chemistry, mathematics, materials science, biology, engineering, and other basic or applied disciplines. With a long history of development, it has now become one of the most active frontier disciplines in the world, and has been playing an increasingly important role in the development of basic science and industrial technology.

Along with the rapid development of surface science and technology, the research group engaged in surface science and technology swelled, achievement continuously enriched, and a platform for demonstration and communication was in urgent need. So that’s where the journal came in, serving for the scientific and technological innovation in surface science and technology, and has crucial significance in scientific, social, and economic development.

We are committed to publishing high-quality review articles, original research papers and letters on the areas of materials, surface and interface, with the aim of demonstrating scientific and technological innovations on science, technology and engineering in surface and interface science and promoting the exchange of progress as well as the transformation of innovations and application in engineering.

We have a strong editorial board and a high-performance academic publishing group to ensure an efficient and standardized operation, promoting our academic influence in the world. This journal focuses on the research work in the fields of surface science, including surface interface physics, chemistry, catalysis; surface interface diffusion modification and energy conversion; functional coatings and films; corrosion and protection; friction wear and lubrication; and ultra precision surface machining and metrology.
