New study: Vacuolar-type H⁺-ATPase-mediated extra-organellar buffering resolves mitochondrial dysfunction

Mitochondrial stress can reduce cellular performance and compromise survival. In our new work, we show that Vacuolar-type H⁺-ATPase (V-ATPase) supports an extra-organellar buffering response that helps restore mitochondrial function and improves cell fitness under mitochondrial stress.

Main message

  • V-ATPase-dependent buffering outside organelles contributes to recovery from mitochondrial dysfunction and promotes better cellular fitness during stress.
