Behind the Paper
The real stories behind the latest research papers, from conception to publication, the highs and the lows
Advantages of Rydberg many-body systems in metrology
By probing the microwave electric field, we have exhibited the advantages of the Rydberg many-body system at the critical point. We find that the Fisher information close to the criticality is enhanced by a factor more than 10^3 by comparing a non-interacting ensemble.
Gyro-odd elastodynamics
Metamaterials containing active constituents from gyroscopic and odd-elastic effects challenge some basic symmetry principles of classical elasticity, which has significantly broadened the foundation of possibilities to manipulate non-Hermitian elastic waves in a highly unconventional guise.
A liquid biopsy signature predicts lymph node metastases in T1 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: implications for precision treatment strategy
The treatment strategies for T1 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients with or without lymph node metastasis (LNM) are different. We demonstrated that serum miR-20b-5p could predict LNM in T1 ESCC patients.
Modern pharmacology problems require modern polyzwitterion-polyelectrolyte solutions: adventures in polymer physics and medicine
Solving challenges in oral drug delivery requires new ways of thinking about charged macromolecules and soft matter. Here, the author describes his unique academic journey, and how it enabled him to see this problem in a new light.
