Call for papers: Sustainable Thermal Processes for Water Treatment
Published in Earth & Environment and Sustainability
What is this collection about?
Access to clean water, remediation of polluted water, and sustainable resource recovery are among the most pervasive and pressing issues faced by the world. Thermal water treatment processes have demonstrated the potential to address these challenges through the production of clean water and the valorisation of wastewater.
This cross-journal Collection highlights emerging strategies that use thermal processes to sustainably produce clean water or recover industrially relevant compounds from wastewater. We aim to highlight the latest advances in both established and emerging processes with strong scalability potential.
Specifically, the Collection showcases advances in:
- Membrane distillation
- Multi-stage solar evaporation devices
- Multi-stage atmospheric water harvesting systems
- Emerging processes such as thermodiffusive desalination
The Collection welcomes contributions ranging from fundamental research to scalable demonstrations.
Why is this collection important?
This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 8, highlighting scalable approaches that can contribute to sustainable water treatment and resource recovery.
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by In-House Editors who are experts in their fields and supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
