Meeting Summary

Title: Emerging Cell Therapies: A New Era of Regenerative Medicine

Date: February 21 - 24, 2027
Location: Fairmont Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo, Monaco

Scientific Organizers: Stefan Irion, Agnete Kirkeby, and Christopher S. Chen

Keynote Speaker(s): Douglas A. Melton, Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Harvard University

This keystone meeting will bring together leading researchers to advance the development and translation of emerging cell therapies focused on achieving true tissue and organ regeneration beyond oncology. Significant knowledge gaps and translational challenges persist in applying cell-based strategies to restore function in damaged or diseased non-cancerous tissues and organs. This meeting aims to catalyze breakthroughs by fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and showcasing cutting-edge research that challenges current regenerative medicine paradigms.

The primary goals are to disseminate novel scientific knowledge, introduce innovative methods and technical capabilities, and forge collaborations that will drive the field towards clinical realization. Programmatic elements will showcase the spectrum of cell therapies, from those currently in clinical trials to promising future developments. Attendees will gain insights into groundbreaking research, including complex 3D tissue engineering and advancements in AI and machine learning. This meeting differentiates itself by explicitly bridging basic scientists, clinicians, and industry partners, creating a unique forum for cross-pollination and translational pathway identification. By uniting diverse perspectives, we aim to foster novel therapeutic strategies and shift the research landscape towards functional and durable organ regeneration.

What sets this meeting apart is its focused exploration of true regeneration beyond oncology, creating a specialized environment for in-depth discussions and targeted networking. The program features exceptional speakers, interactive panels on translational hurdles, including funding innovative research. Prospective attendees should choose this meeting for unparalleled access to regenerative medicine innovation, critical partnerships, and the opportunity to shape the future of therapies that fundamentally restore health and function.

*Keystone Symposia Scholarships & Awards*

Keystone Symposia offers discounted registration to students in undergraduate, M.S., Ph.D., or M.D. programs, providing access to the latest scientific advances, technologies, and approaches to further research and careers.

In addition, several financial aid opportunities are also available to support attendance at its scientific meetings:

  • Student and Postdoctoral Scholarships provide up to $1,200 to help defray travel, lodging, registration, and related costs when presenting a poster at an in-person conference. Awards are competitive, based on the abstract’s scientific quality and relevance, and you must apply by the individual scholarship deadline for the desired meeting (abstract + mentor letter required).
  • Early-Career Travel Awards (ECITAs) support early-career investigators with funding to attend meetings; these also require application by the posted deadline for each conference.
  • Global Health Travel Awards (GHTAs) provide financial aid for scientists, clinicians, fellows, and students from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to participate in select Keystone Symposia meetings, especially those focused on global health topics. These awards may cover registration, lodging, airfare, and ground transportation, and applications are submitted through the Financial Aid Portal by the listed meeting deadlines. Learn which meetings have in-person GHTAs available: https://www.keystonesymposia.org/financial-aid/global-health-awards/ghta-listing
