LGBTQ+ is a Topic created to increase visibility and impact of research in this area and facilitate exchange amongst researchers. It is a dedicated page that brings together all content exploring LGBTQ+.

Explore the research: # LGBTQ+ Topic page

Research relating to LGBTQ+ people and communities spans a wide range of disciplines, including health, social sciences, psychology, education, public policy, law, and the humanities. It can deepen understanding of the experiences, challenges, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities, while informing evidence-based approaches to relevant policy, practice and public debate.

This Topic provides a space for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, educators, and advocates to share insights, discuss emerging questions, and highlight the real-world impact of their work. We welcome contributions from across disciplines, recognising that many of the challenges and opportunities facing LGBTQ+ communities benefit from collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, across a range of perspectives.

The Topic also supports the goals of Springer Nature’s SDG Programme, which seeks to connect research with policymakers and practitioners to help address urgent global challenges and accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). LGBTQ+ research is relevant to a number of the Goals, including those focused on health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, reduced inequalities, and peace, justice, and strong institutions. Researchers can also tag relevant SDGs, helping to increase the discoverability and reach of their work.

Here you will find research highlights, expert perspectives, Behind the paper and Beyond the book stories, interviews, and discussions exploring how research can advance understanding, inform policy, and contribute to more inclusive societies.

Whether you are conducting research, working in policy or practice, or interested in the latest developments in the field, we invite you to join the conversation and help strengthen the connection between research and real-world impact for LGBTQ+ communities.
