The Palgrave Macmillan Campaign for the Humanities is an advocacy and engagement initiative designed to champion the importance, relevance, and impact of humanities research within academia and beyond. It launched over ten years ago in the wake of groundbreaking publications such as Humanities in the Twenty-First Century and Why We Need the Humanities, however the issues at its core remain more relevant than ever today, particularly in contexts where scholars are increasingly required to demonstrate the social, cultural, and public impact of their research.

The campaign seeks to help academic communities articulate the value of the humanities and by bringing together editorial content, research highlights, events, and resources on one visible platform – now within the Research Communities – in order to share and discuss developments in the humanities as well as promoting the humanities as essential to understanding contemporary global challenges and human experience.

A central objective of the campaign is to demonstrate the impact and value of humanities research across multiple domains, including informing social policy, understanding cultural heritage, contributing to economic and intellectual life, and fostering critical thinking and innovation. The campaign highlights how humanities scholarship engages with public debate, responds to current issues, and reaches audiences beyond the academy through accessible formats and timely publication models. Via its new home on Research Communities, it aims to build and sustain scholarly communities by encouraging dialogue between authors, editors, and readers through blog content, themed features, free events, and social media engagement.  We are excited to welcome the Palgrave  Macmillan Campaign for the Humanities to the Research Communities!
