Welcome to Communications Health!
Published in Social Sciences, Biomedical Research, and Public Health
We are delighted to announce the launch of Communications Health, a selective open-access journal within the Nature Portfolio Communications series. The journal is now open for submissions and is dedicated to publishing research that advances our understanding of population health and informs strategies to protect and improve health worldwide.
Our scope spans all areas of public and global health research, including infectious and non-communicable diseases, health inequalities, health systems, and the social and environmental determinants of health. We aim to publish timely, impactful studies that shape policy and practice at the local, regional, national or international level. We also welcome reviews and commentary and we encourage researchers and other stakeholders to use the journal as a hub for global and public health dialogue.
As part of the Communications series, Communications Health embraces the principles of editorial excellence, open science, and accessibility. Our in-house editorial team will work with a diverse international editorial board to ensure that the journal amplifies voices reflecting the global nature of health research. Researchers in public and global health are invited to apply to join our editorial board by completing this form.
Communications Health will also benefit from strong connections across the Nature Portfolio. We will collaborate closely with expert colleagues in the Global and Public Health team at Nature Communications to share insights and best practices. Through curated cross-journal Collections, we will spotlight emerging themes and provide high visibility for research that addresses critical challenges in public and global health. Follow us on Bluesky @commshealth.nature.com for updates on our calls for papers.
At Communications Health, we will uphold the highest standards of research practice. We require adherence to robust ethical principles and internationally recognised reporting guidelines to ensure transparency and reproducibility. Papers should be written using sensitive and inclusive language and authors are encouraged to involve local researchers when conducting studies in diverse settings. We strongly support patient and public involvement and engagement in research design and dissemination, recognising its value in shaping relevant and impactful outcomes. We promote diversity, equality and inclusion at every stage of the process, from authorship and peer review to the topics we publish.
We look forward to working with authors, reviewers, editorial board members and readers to build a vibrant community around this new journal. We invite you to join our mission to advance knowledge and drive meaningful change in health by submitting your work today!
