Roles of Cu(I) in H2O activation for electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to C2+ compoundsCO2

Copper is the promising catalyst for CO2 electrocatalytic reduction to ethylene and ethanol, but the working state of Cu is under dispute. The operando spectroscopy confirms the presence of Cu+ in a nanocomposite during CO2RR. The catalyst with Cu+ promotes H2O activation, enhancing C2 formation.
