A Short Story about Chronic Wound Microbiomes
Healing of chronic wounds is frequently impeded by extraneous factors, most notably infection, biofilm formation, and pathological inflammation. We sought to identify associations of bacteria to debridement state and healing outcomes - and establish a new research focus for our lab in the process.
MET-N375S: A therapeutically-actionable germline polymorphism in Asian cancer patients
We found that the most common polymorphism known to affect the MET gene (Asn375Ser [N375S]) increases the aggressiveness of squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, head and neck, and is unexpectedly amenable to HER2 blockers but resistant to c-Met inhibitors.
