Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on 6G technologies.

6G technologies represent the next frontier in wireless communication, aiming to deliver ultra-high data rates, near-zero latency, improved connectivity, and seamless integration of AI at the network core. Building on the foundations of 5G, 6G envisions a connected world powered by AI-native networks, terahertz communication, intelligent reflecting surfaces, distributed sensing, and quantum-secure communication protocols.

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 28th May 2026.

Why is this Collection important?

"This Collection is critically important as it lays the foundational research for 6G, the network poised to transform our digital world by 2030. We are excited to curate a pioneering forum that explores groundbreaking frontiers like AI-native architectures and integrated sensing. The Collection's impact will be to shape the global research agenda and accelerate standardization. For researchers, it offers a unique opportunity to gain high visibility among leaders in the field and contribute to a defining scholarly event that will set the trajectory for the next decade of technological innovation." - Dr. Tulsi Pawan Fowdur

Why submit to a Collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.

Who is involved?

Guest Editors:

  • Tulsi Pawan Fowdur, University of Mauritius, Mauritius
  • Yu Nakayama, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan
  • Ajay Pratap, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), India
