I study noise, air, water, and visual pollution, practicing what I call storm-chasing science. That is, I like to focus on places left ravaged by environmental injustices. If you see me, I'm most likely trying to swim against the academic current because I really believe in the "public" part of public health . I may not get tenure but I am really happy!

Just before my dad passed away in December of 2016, we took one final drive around my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. We visited our old neighborhoods, my childhood homes, and my old schools. Things had not gotten better since I’d left Jackson, some 20 years before. In fact, they’d gotten worse.
