About Kayo Waki

Dr. Waki is an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, specializing in the development and use of mobile health and digital therapeutics (DTx). She is a leading clinical investigator of digital health in Japan. Dr. Waki is the lead investigator for the development of a novel therapeutic strategy for obesity and diabetes using information and communications technology. She has developed several mobile application systems to support self-management of patients with diabetes and has conducted many randomized controlled multicenter trials among outpatient populations to evaluate efficacy of these systems. In 2023, Dr. Waki formed the DTx Research Group in Japan.

 

Dr. Waki received the M.D. degree from Yokohama City University in 1997, the MPH degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 2003.
