About Loredana Bellantuono
I am an Assistant Professor in Applied Physics at the Università degli studi di Bari Aldo Moro. My research is focused on applying methods of Complex Networks, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing to the analysis of complex systems in social science, econophysics, neuroscience, genetics, computational biology, and signal classification. I am also very interested in Artificial Intelligence for Social Good. My research background includes a PhD in Theoretical High-Energy Physics, obtained by investigating open problems in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD).

Mind the gap in university rankings: a complex network approach towards fairness
University rankings are not neutral tools, and their use frequently overlooks disparities in the starting conditions of institutions. We measure the impact of the territory on the scores of universities in rankings, and decouple this bias from performance, thus developing a fairer rating system.
