About Umakanta Tripathy

Dr. Umakanta Tripathy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, India. He has completed his PhD from IIT Madras, Chennai, India, and he has postdoctoral research experiences in the Department of Physics and Chemistry, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and the Department of Chemistry, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. His research interests include Biophysics, Nonlinear optics, and Spectroscopy, specializing in instrumentation like Z-scan, FCS, Confocal, Harmonic generation, and Multiphoton microscopy. He has received recognition from the Government of India for developing a novel tool to study protein aggregation and has been awarded various research fellowships in India and abroad. He has 24 years of experience in research and development and 15 years in teaching. He is also a life member of several scientific societies, including the Indian Photobiology Society (IPS), Indian Physics Association (IPA), Orissa Physical Society (OPS), Indian Society for Radiation and Photochemical Sciences (ISRAPS), Society for Interdisciplinary Research in Materials and Biology (SIRMB), and International Society on Optics Within Life Sciences (OWLS).
