About Yuan Zhilin

Dr. Yuan Zhilin (袁志林, 博士) mainly work on tree-fungus symbiosis. I study how the genetic elements and environmental factors control the mutualism maintenance and breakdown. I use several groups of fungi including root dark septate endophytes, saprotrophs with facultative biotrophy, and endophytic Fusarium as tractable model systems to reveal the ecological services played by these dark matter symbiotic fungi in forest soils compared to typical mycorrhizal fungi.
