Intelligent Identification of Respiratory Diseases: Covid-19 and Similar Virus Cases
1. Journey from conceptualization to implementation
This research highlights a work from conceptualization to implementation, reflecting on the challenges faced, solutions proposed and the promising results of emerging technologies.
2. Method designed
In response to the existing health care problems, we designed an artifact in order to assist professionals identify similarity among viruses. We design to address the shortage of medical personnel, particularly in developing African countries, by providing an efficient tech-solution.
3. Piloting
The artifact was developed by considering local healthcare needs in mind. Hence, it was designed not only for accuracy but also for usability. Therefore, the development process involved the community. As a result, the tool was well received by the healthcare workers.
4. Future Directions
The success of the prototype software marks a significant step towards addressing the healthcare challenges. Moreover, the community’s positive response highlights the potential of AI-driven solutions for healthcare issues. The prototype's ability to identify multiple diseases ensures that the right interventions are provided promptly.
Looking forward, we envision our tool being further refined and adapted for broader use. As we continue to monitor its performance, the integration of more diseases into the AI system could expand its capabilities to solve the pressures on health institutions.
