A New Collaboration on Cancer Treatment and Brain Health

After I completed cancer treatment at the Ottawa Hospital, I started looking for ways to use my expertise as a neuroscientist to help patients who are suffering from side-effects of radiation therapy. I teamed up with a team of radiologists at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute including Dr. Vimoj Nair, and together we developed the first platform to test the effects of radiation therapy on thousands of in vitro cortical neurons simultaneously, providing an unprecedented window into how the brain reacts to cancer treatment. The findings are published in Scientific Reports:
