From noise to signal, how we flipped a problem into a paper

The impact of variation in organellar genomes (mitochondria and chloroplasts) on organismal performance is difficult to measure. Ignoring this variation can cause many problems, one of which was the impetus for us to find a new way to separate the organellar signal from the nuclear noise.
