Behind BASEPROD: Collecting a dataset for planetary exploration
The semi-desert of Bardenas Reales, Spain, offers a diverse array of terrain features ranging from rocky outcrops to sandy slopes. This is ideal for robotics researchers working on planetary exploration. We have recorded a dataset with nearly two kilometers of traverses, maps, and spectroscopy data.
Tailored pore-confined single-site iron(III) catalyst for selective CH4 oxidation to CH3OH or CH3CO2H using O2
The direct conversion of methane into methanol and acetic acid offers a sustainable pathway for producing high-value chemicals. We achieve this transformation by harnessing a multifunctional iron(III) dihydroxyl catalytic species within a MOF framework, using molecular oxygen as the oxidant.
Selective 1,3-butadiene production from acetylene using partially oxidized copper catalysts
1,3-butadiene, the key component in making synthetic rubbers, is usually produced as a by-product from the thermocatalytic cracking of naphtha. We have found that 1,3-butadiene can be produced with selectivities of up to 93 % via the environmentally sustainable electrolysis of acetylene.
Wrangling a de novo sequencing benchmark
In any machine learning study, high quality data for training and validating the model is critical. This paper describes the result of an iterative process of data wrangling and quality control, which ultimately produced a benchmark dataset for de novo peptide sequencing from mass spectrometry data.
