Solid-liquid-gas reaction accelerated by gas molecule tunnelling-like effect
We image the etching of gold nanorods directly at the solid-liquid-gas interface through liquid cell transmission electron microscopy. The local reaction is dramatically accelerated by up to 20 times when the distance between the gas bubbles and the solid (nanorods) is less than 1 nm.
Watching the Watchers: Using AI To Empower The People
Our recent paper In Nature Human Behavior (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-022-01372-0) presents a new learning framework to precisely forecast crime in the urban environment, and simultaneously demonstrates how such precise predictors may be used to reveal signatures of enforcement biases.
Emu: a novel computational tool for more precise community profiles from full-length 16S sequences
Emu is a novel software designed to establish microbial community profiles with full-length 16S rRNA gene sequences from error-prone nanopore devices.
The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant is associated with less severe disease in a high-risk cohort of Veterans
Globally, reports have shown that the COVID-19 Omicron variant results in less severe disease compared to previous variants, including Delta. The extent to which disease severity differs based on vaccination status and in high-risk populations is poorly characterized.
