Behind the Paper
The real stories behind the latest research papers, from conception to publication, the highs and the lows
Extraordinarily long duration of Eocene geomagnetic polarity reversals
Earth’s magnetic field reversals were long thought to finish within about 10,000 years, but new evidence shows two reversals around 40 million years ago lasted 18,000 and 70,000 years, indicating far greater variability in their durations.
Understanding the Shared Pathways of Diabetes and Heart Failure
Patients with diabetes often develop heart failure earlier than expected; many with heart failure develop glucose abnormalities over time. Despite overlap, they have been studied/managed separately. This prompted us to revisit their link as interconnected stages of a shared cardiometabolic process.
Exploring Sustainable PLA Composites Through Low-Cost Processing and Bio-Waste Reinforcement
the mechanical characteristics of biodegradable PLA composites reinforced with animal bone particles through the compression molding technique.
First clinical proof-of-concept of CAR T-cell combination therapy: The phase 2, single-arm ZUMA-14 trial of axicabtagene ciloleucel in combination with rituximab for refractory large B-cell lymphoma
In this study, researchers looked at how safe and well axi-cel and rituximab worked to treat people with refractory large B-cell lymphoma. These therapies target 2 different markers on the surface of the cancer cell. The study showed that this dual-targeting strategy is feasible and generally safe.
