Directly imaging emergence of phase separation in peroxidized lipid membranes
Biophysical alterations of lipid membranes upon peroxidation are linked to cellular signalling and disease. Here, we show how lipid peroxidation breaks the correlation between the membrane’s elastic and viscous properties; and how it triggers lipid clustering in single-component membranes.
Turing patterns under a periodically forced feed
Alan Turing proposed one of the most influential theories of morphogenesis, in which a system of diffusive and reactive chemicals can produce stationary (and other types) spatial patterns. We explored the effect of periodic feeding of the reactive chemicals on pattern development and stabilty.
φ-Aromaticity in prismatic {Bi6}-based clusters
Molecules based on cages of metal atoms ('metal clusters') exhibit properties that are usually very different from those known for organic molecules – although analogies are possible. The present case illustrates how a prism of metal atoms helps realizing a new type of aromaticity – φ-aromaticity.
BO-assisted simultaneous multi-parameter screening for efficient flow
Our group started to study more advanced optimization techniques using machine learning to present a simpler, more practical, and rapid process for predicting the optimum reaction conditions that can be applied to several manufacturing environmentally sustainable processes.
