Retrospective detection of asymptomatic monkeypox virus infections among male sexual health clinic attendees in Belgium
Multiple non-endemic countries were recently hit by a monkeypox virus outbreak. While most cases present with lesions in the anogenital region, it is unclear whether asymptomatic or otherwise undiagnosed infections are fuelling this epidemic.
Volatiles supplied by icy volcanism on Charon and other distant icy worlds
NASA's New Horizons data revealed a geologically complex past on Charon. Here, we show cryovolcanic eruptions released enough methane to source Charon's red polar cap. We observe methane and their products on other Kuiper belt objects, so this process could be important across the Kuiper belt.
Do dietitians in Canada prescribe carbohydrate restriction? A survey of knowledge, use and barriers
Before 2020, diabetes nutrition care excluded carbohydrate restriction but growing evidence supports this approach now included in Canada’s Clinical Practice Guidelines. We assessed the knowledge, use and barriers of dietitians to improve diabetes nutrition care in Canada.
Tracking chemical coherence in condensed media
cis-stilbene is a photochemical prototype for cis-trans olefinic photoisomerisation. In our recent work, we show that this process maintains coherence throughout the reaction path, even in liquid-phase. This has interesting implications for the evolutionary favourability of this reaction in biology.
