This year, the SDG 3 working group has worked with researchers, editors and authors to amplify new challenges and positive developments towards achieving the WHO's SDG 3 targets  by 2030.

This year, nearly 50 blogs authors contributed to 6 newsletters on diseases, children, LGBTQ+ health health equity, and women's health. The  SDG 3 Newsletters highlighted 64 blogs and events of interest to the research community.

March- World Health Day 

This popular blog spotlighted Springer Nature content related to the WHO’s and World Health Day’s goal of improving health equity and giving everyone an equal chance to live a healthy life. It clearly resonated with many of you. 

June- Intersecting Identities, Shared struggles 

This podcast and Q&A was one not to be missed in 2025. Chima Mmeje and Tommy Gough share their experiences as Black queer individuals, including barriers to healthcare and mental health.

July- World Population Day 2025 

This popular blog was written by the Editors-in-Chief of Population Health Metrics to emphasise the importance of social connection in population health research and policy. Did you know that social connection is just as vital to our health as our physical and mental well-being? 

August- Harm Reduction 

This highly read blog explores a sometimes overlooked aspect of health care: harm reduction. Harm reduction recognises the realities of people’s lives and the importance of meeting them where they are. In the spirit of SDG 3, we must remove barriers and reduce stigmas to ensure access for all, including substance use communities.  

August- Migration and Maternal and Child Nutrition 

This joint collection in International Journal for Equity in Health and Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition received much attention. Examining how migration shapes maternal and child health and nutrition, the collection highlights the need for more equitable healthcare and policies to support vulnerable migrant communities. 

October- Affordable Medical Devices for Women’s Health in Low-Income Countries 

Readers were interested to learn how medical devices can be powerful tools for global health equity, by bridging the accessibility gap and prioritising women’s health.
