Behind the Paper
The real stories behind the latest research papers, from conception to publication, the highs and the lows
FLAMINGO: Understanding genome structures in the 3D space
We developed a highly scalable algorithm, FLAMINGO, to reconstruct the 3D chromosome structures at unprecedented resolution and unraveled the structural basis of chromatin interactions, long-range QTLs and high-order multi-way interactions.
Extrinsic rewards and crowding-out of prosocial behaviour
Can offering monetary rewards reduce prosocial behaviours like recycling? We find that rewards can both increase and decrease prosocial behaviours, and that the existence and size of the crowding-out effect depends on reward size and pre-existing levels of prosocial motivation.
Highly efficient large-area perovskite light-emitting diodes for next-generation display technology
Highly-efficient large area perovskite light-emitting diodes with high uniformity using colloidal perovskite nanocrystals were realized with the development of the simple modified-barcoating which facilitates the evaporation of residual solvent.
Diamonds are forever mirrors
Diamond is known as a gemstone, but it is used in other applications ranging from drilling to electronics to quantum information. In the following post, we describe the story behind our manuscript “Diamond mirrors for high-power continuous-wave lasers” recently published in Nature Communications.
Challenges and opportunities of wind and solar photovoltaic sources in times of war and COVID-19 pandemic
If, in normal times, mitigate climate change to prevent the temperature from rising above 1.5°C by 2050 to avoid dangerous climate action (IPCC, 2018) is a brutal challenge to humankind, imagine now with the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Europe.
